Widths available are:- 7.3 metres, 8.0 metres and 9.0 metres.
Other sizes are available. Please ask. Steel framework is constructed from Z35 grade high tensile steel tubing galvanised to BS2989. All steel tubing
is 1.5mm wall thickness unless otherwise stated. Hoops are 60mm outside
diameter, ridge purlin (one) and gable end windbracings are 50.8mm outside diameter, and internal cross bracings (where fitted)
are 35mm outside diameter.
The framework is straight sided to
about 1.1m before starting to curve inwards.
The timber gable
ends and side rails are 95mm x 45mm treated timber. Steel and aluminium gable ends and side rails are available as an option.
Please ask.
We recommend that the polytunnel is clad with "Visqueen"
5-season, ulta violet inhibited, white polythene which has a life span of at least 5 year, barring mechanical damage. This
cover is translucent and the unit is cool and light inside. We can also
supply "Visqueen" 5-season green / white polythene if there are environmental issues to be considered, but these
covers are opaque and the polytunnel is dark inside and so needs continual artificial lighting.
Anti hot spot tape is applied to the outer cover of all hoops and purlin and will help to reduce heat transfer
between steel work and the cover. It will also reduce abrasive wear in high winds. Use of this tape, which is recommended,
should increase the life of the cover by about a year.
Large hole
tensar, which is stockproof, is fitted to either side and both gables, to a height of about 1 metre and is securely fitted,
under tension, to the outside of every hoop, using screwed in timber battens. This tensar provides good ventilation and a
secure containment area for stock.
Gutters, where fitted, are
75mm x 90mm galvanised steel, with a running outlet and a stop end. These gutters are recommended to stop wind blown rainwater
from entering the polytunnel.
The approximate number of ewes which
can be housed is calculated by allowing 1.1 sq metre lying space each.
